Ash (Ashley) Limés Castellana is a printmaker and multimedia artist residing in Philadelphia, PA. She’s the first-generation American daughter of Cuban immigrants, and was raised in the sunshine of Miami, FL.
Her artistic practice seeks to promote a connection with ourselves and the natural world by creating environments using the language of architecture and geology. In response to her urban alienation from nature, she uses excursions to protected lands, research of geological features, as well as studies of ancient architecture and Eastern art, to begin her inquiries. Through drawing and printmaking, Ash reduces the landscape to specific components in order to encourage focused attention and provide a tool for self reflection.
Ash is a Museum Education Coordinator at the Fabric Workshop and Museum - where she leads the Post Grad College Apprentice Training program and K-12 Onsite Studio; a Coordinator and Educator at Second State Press , and an occasional Youth Educator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art .
