Instincts of Matter | 2012 | Front/Space Gallery, Kansas City, MO
A collaborative installation by Ashley Limes and Katie Ford. Instincts of Matter, is a site-specific installation exhibited in Front/Space gallery, Kansas City, MO from July 6 - August 4th, 2012.
The installation is constructed of layers of screen-printed fabric and paper structures referencing both Islamic architecture and geological formations in caves. Hung from the ceiling and walls, these forms create strata that immerse the viewer while inside the gallery and are seen as a diagrammatic cross-section from outside the large street-front window.
