Figment 2013 | Clark Park | Philadelphia, PA

A collaborative effort by Paul Castellana & Ashley Limés Castellana

Assembly is an additive sculpture of geometric facets which is created by the participants piece by piece. A series of complementary cardboard polygons including triangles, parallelograms, squares, pentagons and hexagons (with sides of equal length) were provided for participants to build with at their own discretion. Any face of each of the polygons can be fastened together using zip ties. We provide the foundation and building materials so that each participant plays the role of the artist.

The shapes were laser cut out of recycled cardboard from local businesses and colored with water based paints so that when the project reaches the end of its life it can be recycled properly. This installation was created for Figment Philadelphia, an outdoor interactive art event.
